How do I know what sized dumpster I need?
Choosing the right dumpster depends on the type and amount of debris you’re disposing of. As a general reference, one cubic yard is about the size of a standard washing machine or 5-6 full 32-gallon trash bags. Two cubic yards is roughly equivalent to the volume of a standard pickup truck bed filled level.
- A 3-yard Bagster is great for small projects like closet cleanouts, yard trimming, or cleaning up after a bathroom vanity replacement.
- The 10-yard dumpster is ideal for bathroom remodels, garage cleanouts, or small roofing jobs.
- The 15-yard dumpster is best for larger remodels, roof tear-offs, estate cleanouts, or construction job sites.
Not sure what you need? Contact us—we’re happy to help you choose the right size.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
We offer flexible, standard rental periods of 1-day, 3-day, 5-day, and 7-day options. Need more time? You can extend your rental for $15 per day.
Just let us know in advance so we can adjust our schedule accordingly.
What items can be placed in the dumpster?
Our dumpsters are ideal for most non-hazardous waste generated from home projects, renovations, or job sites. This includes household junk, construction and demolition debris, roofing shingles, flooring materials, furniture, drywall, lumber, tile, yard waste, and small amounts of concrete, dirt, or sod. If you’re unsure about a specific item, contact us, we’re happy to help you dispose of it the right way.
What items cannot be placed in the dumpster?
To comply with local disposal regulations, certain items are not allowed in our dumpsters, such as hazardous materials, asbestos, wet paint, motor oil, tires, TVs, computer monitors, car batteries, refrigerators, or medical waste. These items require special handling and cannot be mixed with regular debris.
If any prohibited items are found in the dumpster, additional disposal fees may apply. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us before loading.
Do you take appliances?
Unlike most dumpster rental companies, Redleg Dumpsters partners with a local company that can dispose of appliances to help you get rid of bulky items the right way.
Just let us know in advance if you plan to dispose of appliances during your rental. We’ll coordinate the pickup and ensure they’re handled properly, saving you the hassle.
What areas do you serve?
Redleg Dumpsters is based in Elkhorn, WI and proudly serves a 20-mile radius with fast, reliable dumpster rentals for residential, commercial, and contractor projects. We deliver to the following cities/towns:
Elkhorn, Lake Geneva, Delavan, East Troy, Whitewater, Burlington, Walworth, Williams Bay, Fontana, Lyons, Spring Prairie, Sugar Creek, Troy, La Grange, Darien, Genoa City, Pell Lake, Mukwonago, Harvard (IL), Sharon, and surrounding areas.
For jobs located outside our standard 20-mile service area, we’re happy to accommodate—an additional mileage fee of $3 per mile applies beyond the 20-mile radius.
Do I need a permit for placing a dumpster on my property or on the street?
No permit is required when placing a dumpster on private property, such as your driveway or yard. However, if you plan to place it on a public street, sidewalk, or right-of-way, a temporary permit may be required by your local municipality. If a permit is needed, we’ll help coordinate the permit for you.
Please note: any permitting fees charged by the municipality will be added to your rental cost.
Will a dumpster damage my driveway or yard?
Our dumpsters are designed to be driveway-friendly, and we place wood boards underneath our dumpsters at every delivery to evenly distribute weight and prevent the wheels from making direct contact with the ground. We strongly recommend placing the dumpster on a flat, solid surface to avoid potential damage. Soft ground, wet grass, or uneven terrain can lead to sinking or ruts, so be sure to discuss placement during booking.
Please note: Redleg Dumpsters is not responsible for any damage to driveways, yards, or other surfaces resulting from placement.
Can I move the dumpster after it has been delivered?
No, dumpsters should not be moved once placed. Moving a dumpster can cause damage to your property or our equipment, and may lead to additional fees. If you need it repositioned, contact us and we’ll be happy to assist.
Do I need to be there when the dumpster arrives?
We recommend being present at drop-off to ensure the dumpster is placed exactly where you need it and to answer any questions in real time. However, if you’re unavailable, that’s no problem, as long as clear placement instructions are provided during booking. If no instructions are given, we’ll use our best judgment and place the dumpster in the most accessible location for delivery.
Do you provide same-day or emergency services?
Yes, we offer same-day delivery when available, especially for urgent jobs and emergencies. Contact us early in the day or as early as you can to check availability for same-day or next-day service.
